Effective July 29, 2026 · ClipFactory for iOS

The short version: ClipFactory runs entirely on your iPhone. Your videos, your audio, and the AI that reads them never leave your device. There are no accounts, and the app makes no network calls of its own. We do not collect, store, or sell your personal data.

Information we collect

None. ClipFactory has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no analytics or tracking SDKs. It does not send your videos, audio, transcripts, spoken instructions, or usage data to us or to any third party.

Your videos and photos

When you choose a source video, ClipFactory reads it from your Photos library only to process it on your device. If you enable "Save to Photos," the finished clips are written back to your library. Your media stays on your iPhone the entire time. Photo library access is used solely for these purposes and is governed by iOS permissions you control.

Audio transcription

If you turn on captions, ClipFactory transcribes your video's audio using Apple's on-device Speech framework to generate subtitles. The app requires on-device recognition: if your iPhone cannot transcribe locally, ClipFactory produces no captions rather than sending your audio anywhere. It also analyses the audio locally with Apple's Sound Analysis framework to find moments the audience reacts to, such as laughter or applause, so it can pick better clips.

Microphone and spoken instructions

ClipFactory lets you record spoken instructions for the AI when you submit a video — for example, who appears in it or which moments you want clipped. This is optional. The microphone is only active between the moment you start a recording and the moment you stop it, and a recording ends automatically after 90 seconds. ClipFactory never listens in the background.

The recording is transcribed on your device using Apple's on-device Speech framework, and the audio file is deleted immediately afterwards. The audio is never uploaded and never kept. Only the resulting text is stored, on your device, as part of that project's notes. You can edit or delete that text in the app at any time.

On-device AI

ClipFactory uses Apple's on-device foundation model, part of Apple Intelligence, to choose which moments to clip and to write hooks and captions. This runs locally on your iPhone. On devices that do not support Apple Intelligence, ClipFactory falls back to Apple's on-device Natural Language framework and its own built-in rules, so the app works the same way without it.

ClipFactory does not use any third-party AI service, and it does not send your videos, audio, transcripts, or instructions to us or to anyone else for processing or for training.

What is stored on your device

ClipFactory organises your work into projects called Factory Lines. For each one it keeps, locally on your iPhone: your finished clips and their thumbnails, a record of the videos you imported, a written summary of what those videos were about, recurring names and topics it noticed, any instructions you recorded, and which clips you exported or edited. This is what lets later clips understand the context of earlier ones.

None of it is transmitted anywhere. Deleting a Factory Line in the app deletes everything stored for it, and deleting the app removes all of it.

Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases (the free trial and the ClipFactory Pro monthly and annual subscriptions) are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. We never see or receive your payment information. Your subscription status is verified on your device against your Apple Account. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy, and subscription terms are covered by the Apple standard EULA.

Data sharing and selling

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any personal information, because the app does not collect any.

Children's privacy

ClipFactory does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
